From Calvert to Mount Vernon.
For the last couple of years there is a large constructiion site going on in Calvert. The Alabama State Troopers have had and are having a windfall by working this site all hours of the day. The speed limit is 45 mph, which there is no reason for.
Several bridges between Jackson and Mobile have been built and the State Troopers worked hard on filling their booty up at these sites.

This is not a speed trap anymore. The construction on the TK steel plant is complete. The state has literally paid for the new ALDOT overpass with the revenue generated by the speeding tickets, The highway patrol gave out an average of 3,000 tickets a month there for more than a year and a half. The agreement between the state and the TK steel plant was that the state would build the overpass for the plant as an incentive to build it there and then used the speeding tickets to pay for it. Once they ended the construction they went away. It is rare to see anyone pulled over any where between I-65 and Calvert these days.
