within 500 feet,the speed ;limit goes from 55 to 35,and the cop is waiting at the second sign on the right,with his lights off.coming home from charleston to beaufort

Not sure where you are referring to. Hwy 17 was 55 and now is 60 all the way through. Green Pond Hwy. is 55 all the way to Hwy 17 intersection. Only in the village of Green Pond is it 35 and that is 1 1/2 miles from Hwy. 17. Definitely not a speed trap!
