Highway 27/39

Kerrville, TexasJul 31, 20021 Comments

Beginning in Kerrville, but not really becoming heavy until Ingram, is strong enforcment by the Kerr County Sheriff’s Department. DO NOT speed between Ingram and Hunt on this highway. The ticket I recieved was for 57 in a 45…with the next speed zone’s 50 mph sign in sight. I personally know many people that have been ticketed many times in this area. The cop doesnt hide so much as the fact that the speed limits change constantly and are often hidden by trees, plus a poor sense of judgement on the part of the officers which are reminescent of Beauford T. Justice from Smokey & The Bandit.

Comments:
The area between Ingram and Hunt is not a speed trap. I live in Hunt and drive this very often. The speed limit in Ingram is clearly posted as 35. When you cross Johnson Creek it is clearly posted at 45. From the you go through an area which during the summer is heavily congested by people at the lake and the boat ramp. During the winter it is a high school and Jr. High area. Just past the boat Ramp the speed limit goes to 50mph a stays that way for roughly 7 miles to Hunt. In more than 15 years I have never seen nor known of anyone to get a ticket in that area.
