Sellers, South CarolinaMar 01, 20022 Comments

Sellers is a tiny town that relies on excessive enforcement of speed laws for most of the town budget. Court night is a major social event in the area with 30-40 motorist being given the choice of a $174 ticket with 4 points or a $350 ticket with no points. Drive the limit or better yet, avoid the town. I think if enough people would contribute to a fund, we could put up "speed trap ahead" billboards at both ends of town. Tickets would drop and the town would cease to exist.

Comments:
Yes, we are a very small town. Our court nights are not a social event. If you speed in Sellers you have a right to get a ticket just as in other city. Please do not promote avoiding our small town, we are humans too.

Yes sellers is and always have been a speed trap town. Living in a nearby city several years ago, I used to drive though there going to Florence. As I was going through I spotted a friend driving towards me, I flashed my lights and was pulled over and wasn't speeding. I was given a ticket for warning another driver-the "cop" said that I was interfering with police duty and had to write it in on the ticket since there was no such violation printed on it. I fought it to a court beyond this country town and won!!! So like the other comment stated, by all means avoid Sellers by taking 95. Or piss them off as I did a few times by driving 10 mph through town smiling and waving at the "cop" as I passed by him, the look on his face, priceless, lol!!!
