Photo Speed camera. Our group of people were there for a Perfect Game youth baseball tournament. Being the organization owner, this will be the last time we will attend any baseball event in Iowa. There are enough communities in the midwest, that host baseball events, without trying to fleece the public when they visit. The excuse that it is public safety is a sham. Our community tried stop light cameras. They saw an increase accidents and road rage issues, as people did whatever was necessary to avoid going through the stop light cameras. Even businesses in the area saw significant declines in revenue, as people avoided the area completely. Help your community learn, stop patronizing the local businesses, like they did in Schaumberg, IL, and they will remove this new tax.

I travel to Iowa every week and visit Cedar Rapids several times a year. On my last three visits i get the same "Magic Ticket" mailed to me. 67 in a 55, yes all three identical speeds. Well after the first ticket i mapped out where all the cameras are, set the cruise control to 50 and still was mailed a ticket. On Nov 6 i traveled to Cedar Rapids again with a coworker. Having told him about the Cedar Rapids Out of Town Driver Shake Down, we both watched the speed, counted the cameras and joked how even going 50mph since i have out of town plates i would get a ticket. Well guess what - i received the same 67 in a 55 ticket. What a joke. I have refused to pay any of these. Next time i go to Cedar Rapids i will not buy gas, eat, shop, stay in a hotel or spend any money. I will also start to cover my plates since it does even when i obey the law they mail me a ticket. Avoid Cedar Rapids.

I was going through Cedar Rapids and got the same "Magic Ticket" you are talking about. I was heading through on November 14th (a couple days before you) & was not speeding. They show on the ticket I was going 68 in a 55. The funny thing is that I had set my cruise at the speed limit because a cop was following me! This is ridiculous. Unfortunately, I can't avoid Cedar Rapids because of work, but I will find a way around this. Has anyone contested a violation like this? I'm not sure how you'd ever win.
