I-96 between Wixom Rd. and I-275/I-696 interchange
The Michigan State Police have a new strategy for entrapping drivers at night on this stretch of I-96. A patrol car, with its high beams on, tailgates the target driver. The glare from the high beams makes it difficult or impossible to tell that the tailgating vehicle is a police car. When the target driver speeds up to take a lane or pull away from the blinding high beams, the cop pulls him over and writes a speeding ticket. Apparently the State Police believe that the pursuit of revenue justifies endangering the lives of Michigan drivers with this unsafe practice.
