Interstate 20
On Interstate 20, the maximum speed is now 55mph from around Douglasville, GA, to Oxford, AL, and continuing towards Birmingham, Al. For years the speed limit has been 70mph. Recently changed to 55mph due to multiple accidents along that stretch of highway.

This is most definitely a speed trap. I and another car got tickets for going 70 mph through here near mile marker 183. I never saw the trooper before he turned on his lights; so, I can't advise on where he was hiding, but definitely be careful through there. I have driven that route for years, and it had always been 70.
I have to respectfully disagree with this being a speed trap as the former Speed Limit signs indicating 70 MPH have been replaced with signs that read Speed Limit 55 MPH. The problem is not with the public safety officials, rather with the individuals who are not able to distinguish 70 from 55 on their speedometer.
The 55 mph starts at the Alabama state line coming from Atlanta.
Individuals can tell the difference between 55 mph and 70 mph. I drive for a living and our trucks will not run passed 69 mph so just past the Coldwater/Munford exit to the Ga. St line is most definitely a speed trap. I would like to thank the Troopers for the ticket I received past the 2nd Heflin exit going to the Ga. State line for going 57 mph boy I was flying! I have to make a living to.
Yes there are potholes and yes there have been accidents. Are the genuises in DOT not smart enough to figure out that the POTHOLES cause the accidents? DOn't blame speed, blame potholes! Having driven in probably 38 states in the USA, only California and Mississippi have worse interstates.
Ditto last post. The problem is the road not the speeds driven on it. Terrible stretch of interstate.
