Interstate 30 near Cherry Street

Fort Worth, TexasMay 25, 20070 Comments

Coming off of I-30 eastbound onto the Cherry / Lancaster exit (Lancaster currently closed for construction, 2007) – speed goes from 60MPH on the Interstate to 35MPH towards the end of the very long (half mile or so), curving off-ramp. The speed limit makes sense because you are entering downtown streets and there’s a big dip at the bottom of the ramp, but it’s very easy to carry speed into this 35MPH zone. Typically people will still be doing 50+ by the time they hit the 35 limit sign. In the mornings there will be cops at the bottom of the ramp, just sitting there with their radar guns and waving people over for their tickets. It’s hard to see the cops because you’re coming around the curve, and by the time you see them, it’s too late.
