Interstate 74 from exit 89 to exit 95
As we all know, I-74 is undergoing a major facelift in and around Peoria through 2006. The present task at hand is the removal and reconstruction of the 15 overpasses through the city. Presently the Forrest Hill Avenue overpass is being redone. State police pull a dragnet where one car sits on the Gale avenue overpass (approx. one half mile east, or exit 90) of Forrest Hill, and several units wait for the signal from the bogey on the east-bound on ramp. Of course we all know to be aware and particularly cautious in the work zones, but the police are attempting to snag those who, in their frustration of having to slow down to 45, accelerate far beyond the limit after leaving the zone. I have personally seen seven cars stopped in the two miles of road east of Gale Avenue (miles 91-93) at one time.
