Interstate 76 near PennDOT Service Depot
Shortly after the Belmont Ave. exit, travelling westbound towards Gladwyne, there is a PennDOT pulloff area on your right side. It is surrounded by a chain-link fence, and has 2 combination entrances/exits. There is a large salt silo inside the depot. State troopers will sit in the second entrance area, waiting for you to pass while speeding. Since they are state troopers, they can and will use radar if necessary. They sit far back in the depot, and you can’t see them until you pass them. Your only clue is the fencing, if it’s closed & locked up, there are no officers in that area. The gates will be open if officers are potentially lying in wait. Many times you’ll see the gates open but no officers, that means they’re on the highway nabbing someone. You’ll often see them about 2 miles up the road, on the extended shoulder/breakdown area.
