I’ve noticed State, county, & local law enforcement sitting in the shadow of the monument, in the median about 90% of the time i pass through Kearney. I notice they like to use radar, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they use other things too. a radar detector will usually go off since the monument itself has 2 detectors in it, as part of one of their exhibits (last time I saw them up close was about 2-3 years ago). I have also seen them facing the flow of traffic, very close to the bases of the building on either side of the interstate. If you keep the speed of surrounding traffic, you’ll be fine.
