When getting on the Skyway (southbound) from the Dan Ryan (Interstate 94) watch your speed on your entry for the first 1/2 mile. The Chicago police like to sit on the next two entrances, and they are easy to miss, but they don’t miss you. Also, northbound on the Skyway, coming down off the bridge just before the $2.00 toll, watch for the man with the radar gun. Bear in mind that the Skyway has been a big boon-doggle for the City of Chicago. It has never paid for itself despite exorbitant tolls. It is patrolled by the CPD rather than the Illinois troopers, unlike the other expressways in town. Could it be that they lower the limit and patrol heavily in order to eek out a little more income? Indiana and Michigan drivers, especially, beware.
