You are 100% correct. The Louisiana Legislature has tried to introduced several bills outlawing their use. If you want to find out about their status or want to write about your concern ---contact your state rep or senator. If you know what type of radar the van is using you can purchase a number of good radar detectors--fuzz busters. If ,however it is a vascar (time and distance) forget it.It is more accurate than radar and there is no signal to detect. This is an epidemic and has spread across the state --more and more cities are signing contracts with this company or one like it. Why because it is a money maker for the compnay and the city.
It has nothing to do with public safety--only money. Under the guise of safety the company sells the city on the idea, but what they really show them is how much money the city can make.
Ponder this----- If the equipment is electrical--is it affected by surges, brown outs, weather
etc. If it is--who keeps the records showing maintenance? How often does the equipment get checked--every 6 months, once a year, ? What training do the people who install the equipment recieve, the people who work on it, check it etc.?Where can you see those records of employees?
Did you know the city is responsible for maintaing the traffic signals? Those records are public record. Some signals are set on a timer, some on traffic flow and some on pressure plates--how many vehicles pass thru a specific intersection. If you contest the ticket-- supobena all that information. From the date it was installed until present. By the way if you plead not guilty--you don't get to go to traffic court with RedFlex so you will have to get into small claims court or sue them and get to district court.
I'm from Florida and was on the way back from visiting relatives in Lake Charles. We ate dinner at Don's and while driving back to the interstate we saw a sudden flash. I had an idea what it was, but thought nothing of it because I was only driving 40 in a 35 mph zone. WRONG!
