McCrory Lane near Interstate 40
Between I-40 and Hwy 100. This is the route tourists take to get from the interstate to the beginning of the Natchez Trace Parkway. The cops don’t patrol the winding part of the road which could possibly be justified as a safety issue. No, they sit in the entrance to a neighborhood and snare cars who are coming down a long hill which is the first straight section of road. During particularly busy times, the cops have been known to refuse to move out of the way so people can turn into the neighborhood. I witnessed one car nearly get broad-sided when the driver was forced to stop in mid-turn because the cop moved his motorcylce into the driver’s path.
I also witnessed an accident with minor injuries at Hwy 100 and Temple Rd. The police were called. It took them an hour to respond. A family member later told me that there were two motorcycle cops and a police car working the speed trap on MrCrory Lane at the time of the wreck. Incidents like this of police manning speed traps while ignoring accidents and burglary in progress reports are legion in Nashville.
