MD 140 East/ West-bound through city
Speed limit on this stretch is 45, but average traffic speed is closer to 60, and up to 65. Westminster City Police love to exploit this, and either patrol the highway directly or sit on streets meeting it. Enforcement is dramatically more common late at night, when there is much less traffic on this six-lane divided highway. Never, ever go more than 45 on this stretch in the middle of the night, as the police are almost guaranteed to be waiting.

This area is not only a speed trap but a driving trap in general. It is best to AVOID MD-140 through Westminster past 12 on week days and past 10 on weekends and Fridays at ALL costs. You will be pulled over and given a guaranteed ticket (no warnings) no matter how slow you drive and no matter if you follow every driving law to the letter, they will not let you leave until they find something to bust you for. They are looking for nice cars and street racers in particular, if you're in the minivan you'll be fine, but if you and your friend happen to be rolling in a M3 and a saab expect a visit from Westminster's finest.
