This section of highway, outside of Grangeville, ID, has been a well maintained 55 mph highway for many years. While driving there this morning, we managed to miss a new 45mph sign. We were following a UPS truck and several other cars doing the exact same speed, when an Idaho State Trooper approached in the opposite lane. He immediately made a u-turn and lit us up. I was monitoring the GPS in the passenger seat, and no speed limit data was even available. We were written up for 56 in a 45mph zone. In the last 2 years, I have witnessed numerous ISP units pulling over motorists in this area. My wife, who was driving, had a previous 40 year perfect record with no moving violations until this morning. Conversations with other local residents confirmed my suspicion that this is a speed trap.
