On Highway 20/26/Franklin Road and Smeed
As you are coming in to Caldwell on Highway 20/26 the speed limit is 55mph and changes just as you cross the intersection at Smeed the speed limit changes to 35 mph. The officer sits back on the left side about a block before the stop light. And make sure your seat belt is on, because after all it is the law. He likes to cite for the no seat belt also.

The speed limit change is posted WAY BEFORE one reaches this area. If you are dumb enough to continue at 55 mph for a 1/4 mile after the limit changes (and many are) then MAN-UP and take your ticket!!
When you come off the Interstate through this intersection and head east on Hwy 20/26, there is NOTHING indicating the speed limit is 35. I was in a group of cars doing 45 past the Flying J. It is like a seven- or eight-lane super highway at that point. About a tenth of a mile later, the road narrows to two lanes, and the speed limit becomes 55 mph. You tell me that makes any sense. It definitely IS a speed trap. I have a $90 ticket for nothing to prove it. I suggested to the cop that he spend all day, every day in that spot. It's a sure thing. By the way, while I'm not willing to "man up" and take this ticket, I don't drive across parking lots without a seat belt, Puddin'.
