On Highway I-59 from York, northeast
The speed trap consists of a fake construction zone – one sign indicating Construction Zone, and one speed limit sign indicating 55 as speed limit, and no other signs for 15 – 20 miles, and of course, no construction. When we drove through this zone, 4 Alabama State Patrol cars had motorists pulled over for speeding. In the absence of speed limit sign for probably 20 miles, it is natural that motorists would assume that the speed limit had increased to 70…not. This is the same situation on the other side of I-59, heading southwest.
