Riverside Drive near Close to Texaco Station
If you are heading into downtown Memphis, be careful of the transition from Interstate 55 to Riverside Drive. The speed limit drastically drops in a very short distance from the speed limit of Interstate 55 to a much slower Riverside Drive speed limit.
A radar unit is set up close to the Texaco station (located on the east side of Riverside Drive) ready to cite you. Memphis is having tremendous financial problems and this appears to be quite lucrative. They were even ticketing people for not wearing seatbelts (walking officers posted at intersections downtown) during "Memphis in May". A very nice touch to "Welcome to Memphis".
