Route 12
State troopers shoot their radar/laser while traveling in the opposing lane at oncoming traffic. Therefore, it is virtually too late to slow down if you see the police cruiser about a half-mile or so in the oncoming traffic because the radar/laser already recorded your speed. Troopers then make a quick u-turn and accelerate like a dragster to pull you over. So don’t get cute, just promptly pull over on the shoulder and hopefully you will get away with just a warning because you didn’t make it hard on the trooper. It is 55 MPH along Route 12 between Chippewa Bay and Fishers Landing and the threshold is normally 70 MPH or above when they will pull you over. This speed trap of the Route 12 area is a major revenue maker but it has done nothing to lower our NY taxes!
