Star Valley West Approach
West Ande East approach to the town. Steep hill into town both directions. Camera right by 45 mph speed signs. No chance to go at this speed without applying brakes.
I drove through Star Valley (sorry, don’t even remember the town) 10 days ago. Yesterday, I received a $210 (that alone is a joke) ticket claiming I was driving 59 mph (like everyone else) in a 45mph zone. I live in Minnesota. I was driving from Phoenix to New Mexico that day. All I remember is that several small towns post 45 mph speed signs shortly after a 55 mph speed sign, which is shortly after the 70mph speed limit. This approach was from a steep hill. Without aggressively applying the brakes, it is impossible to go from 70 mph to 45 mph at the point that the 45mph sign is located. I suspected a speed trap after receiving the ticket and verified it by going to this website. It will be a cold day in h*ll before I pay this fine and I’ll never go through this town again.
After spending quite a bit of time on the internet, I determined that speeding fines are a large portion of the revenue this town of 1500+ depends on.
