Stark Road near Plymouth Road

Livonia, MichiganMar 12, 20086 Comments

On Stak between Plymouth and Hines Dr. They sit in residential driveways in marked and unmarked cars just waiting fo you to come by. The speed limit is way to slow for the street so people are always getting caught. They don’t just pull you over for speeding either, rolling stop @ stop sign,no seat belt, etc. They are really bad right now because Livonia just purchased a bunch of new Mustangs and they need to pay for them

My home is on Stark. People get pulled over everyday. I talked to police, they told me the average speed is 35+ before they pull you over. I don't speed (no more then 5 over) when I drive. The police should pull more people over on stark than they do. It is a residental area, not a freeway. Relax and drive safe. Someone loves you.

I also live on Stark Rd. I am always very conscious of the speed limit anywhere because of all animals (family pets) that I have seen hit on Stark Rd. PLEASE drive the speed limit it is residental and there are lots of children and pets. You will have a better chance of stopping if you are going 25-30 and not 40-50. If you need to drive fast take an alternative way. Newburgh and Farmington are accessable to Hines. Please go the speed limit!

Reading the previous posts, the residents have a valid concern with safety. The real issue however is the inconsistency of the speed limit on Stark between Eddie Edgar ice arena and Edward Hines Dr. Along this stretch, residential homes are present except for a short distance, perhaps a half mile, between I96 and the railroad tracks. The posted speed limit varies from 25-30 (it could be 35 but I'll error on the low side) between this 2.5 mile distance. As I too am conscientious of the traffic laws it is very easy to find yourself suddenly traveling faster than the posted limit. The police are going to react as they desire. By definition however this is certainly a speed trap!

Yes, I think this is a money making speed trap. I got a $120 speeding ticket at this spot a few years ago. The speed limit is only 25. I didn't notice this even though I had been taking this short route to Hines drive for several years. Now, I am very conscious of the speed. It seems much too slow, but I force myself to obey the sign.

When did the Livonia Police ever have Mustangs? NEVER !!!!! Please slow down, that is the bottom line and obey all or at least most of the traffic laws and you won't get stopped.

If most people are driving 35 between Plymouth and Hines, then that's what the speed limit should be. Like it or not, Stark is still a main road in this section. Farmington Road has the same setup, and a 40mph limit. These people chose to live on a main road, so they have to understand there will be more traffic and higher speeds.
