The state came through this area and adjusted the speed limits back in 2008. There are now only 2 speed limits on Hwy 276 in East tawakoni. The Police still sit on the shoulder and really like the Bukll Creek Bridge area (if you know what i mean).
There are signs warning of decreased speed limits ahead.
This is most definitely a speed trap. Another area that no one has jobs city looks like one big garage sale so therefore they have to do everything possible to bring in revenue. They will stop you for the slightest infraction. Had a electrician coming out to my house that got a ticket because the ball on his hitch was blocking the view of his license plate number.. its bs.. It will never change either until better commerce comes out in that area.. shame on them.
This is definitely a speed trap. I was returning home on a Sunday after a family reunion in Hopkins Co, Texas. I missed my turn in Emory and decided to go thru to Quinlan then go on 31 to Terrell en route to Tarrant Co, Texas. This takes me thru the small town of East Tawanwaki. There are a lot of speed limit changes in a short period of travel. I was clocked going 68 in a 50. I was not paying attention to all the changes. In the future I will avoid this area and use only state highways etc. I am a retired Law Enforcement Officer and recognized that this small community has some very expensive equipment in vehicles, radios, radar etc, and apparently uses Reservist {unpaid] peace officers particularly on the weekends and Holidays. They need to write a lot of tickets to pay for this advanced expensive equipment in a town of less than 800 population. My advice is to avoid this town, and be especially carefully if you travel thru it.
