State Highway 64

Arp, TexasSep 28, 20044 Comments

They pulled me over for going 37 in a 35. The fine was way too much and possibly not legal($75 for each mph over the limit+ another $100 dollars in fines for no apparent reason)
Then 2 years later they send me a notice saying that I have another ticket and that I owe another $280.00 . Which is funny since I have only been through Arp one time in my life . The Judge could not show any proof of the other ticket but still insisted that I the fine . Arp is a total scam . Avoid the place at all cost.

Comments:
There is no place on Hihway 64 where the speed limit is 35 m.p.h. No pereon was ever charged 75.00 for each mile per hour over the limit

Be careful going into Arp on 64 from Henderson to Tyler. The city patrolman is parked on the hill on private propery behind some trees. When you see the speed limit sign that reduces the speed from 70 to 65 he is there to stop you if you are over. There is hardly anytime to change speeds before he pullls out after you. Several people have commented on this speed trap in Arp.

First of all, the first comment is right, there is no place on ANY state highway that is 35 miles per hour unless it is a construction zone, and since the oringinal post was back in 04 there were no construction back then. You have something wrong. If you did get a letter in the mail that said you still owe 280.00 that was probably the warrant that you had since you did not show up for the oringinal court date. Second comment Yes they do sit at the bottom of the hill on 64 in a driveway, that is part of the city, that is not considered private property. By the time you pass the city limit /speed limit sign and get to where the radar can actually pick up the vehicle you are already approximately 1/2 mile into the city. This is by no means a speed trap. Slow down and obey the posted speed limits signs and you will not have to worry about anything, it may save a life.

This is not a speed trap and the first person should be listed as an idiot. There has never been a 35 mph zone on 64E in arp. Even when it was under construction it was 55 mph in the city limits and 40 when you got to the construction zones. And even if you're still running 70 when you come into the city at the 65mph the likelyhood of getting a ticket at 5 mph over on a state highway is pretty slim, unless you're just rude to them. It's a 5 mph drop, hit the break for two seconds you'll be fine, stop running 90 before you kill someone people.
