State Highway 89
Columbus police officers thrive on lurking throughout the city running stationary radar. On Hwy 89, they are very fond of hiding at the Amtrak train station. It’s very difficult to spot them from this vantage point. The speed limit quickly drops from 55mph to 25mph in this very quiet area. Columbus police DO NOT give warnings, love giving those with clean records their first citations, and never offer to let a "violator" view their radar reading. Their "Local Government Revenue Enhancement Program" rakes in serious $$$$$ since they are especially fond of nailing motorists in transitional areas (it’s not uncommon to get stopped and tagged for speeding within 50-100 feet of a posted 55mph to 25mph zone coming into the city, or the opposite leaving the city). You would do well to avoid this city altogether and spend your hard earned cash at other nearby, friendlier communities.
