State Route 29 near State Route 198
The stretch of road on rt.29 (Columbia Pike) South between rt. 198 and Greencastle Rd. is wide open and easy to gain speed due to the hills. The spot where Montgomery County officers sit is randomly chosen, but often just after Blackburn Rd. Usually, two cruisers parked one behind the other with the rear cruiser’s trunk opened wide to cover the bubble gum lights on top…you can’t tell it’s a cop car. The troopers can see oncoming traffic as it goes down the hill and has already clocked you before you get to the top of the next hill. By then, they are walking out in the middle of the road to stop all traffic and single out whomever they had targeted. Beware though, most of rt. 29 from rt. 650 (New Hampshire Ave.) all the way to Columbia is dangerous for speeders especially once you get past all of the traffic lights and now that there have been several new ramps built to either pass over or under an intersection, it’s like a freeway. Be Careful!
