Sun Harbor Drive near Mabry Mill Road
This is a fake school zone that is 2 miles away from the nearest school. It lasts only for less than one block in the middle of Bay Glen subdivision, but is a favorite hunting ground for local cops anxious to meet their monthly quotas. My daughter was ticketed for doing 28 mph (the limit in the subdivision is 30 mph) and the cop seemed especially pleased that she was 17 years old and had only received her license 2 weeks earlier.

The nearest school is ~1200 *feet* away by road (this is from Mabry Mill/Sun Harbor). It certainly isn't two miles. For perspective, the entire loop around Bay Glen is barely three miles. Also, it stretches for more than a block.
I drive through this area almost every morning (during the school zone) and have done so since 2006. In that time (it is 2011 as I am typing this) I can count on one hand how many times an officer has been sitting in this school zone handing out tickets.
People fly down Sun Harbor and Mabry Mill at all hours of the day and the school zone is no exception. Every single day I see several people easily push 40 mph in this area. The zone is there to protect kids who have to cross the intersection at Mabry Mill/Sun Harbor and Oak Chase/Sun Harbor. Furthermore, there is a park (playground and pool) that almost runs the entire length of the school zone. There is no reason for people to drive as fast as they do through this area.
It's a justified school zone and officers are hardly ever there.
