This is normally a limit 50 area, but was recently designated a "construction area" with a limit of 30! The trouble is that there IS NO CONSTRUCTION, or anything else to alert a relatively careful driver to the "change" (e.g., nothing orange, no cones, no workers, no equipment). Traffic still moves at about 60-70, as usual, and the white speed limit signs have darkened or unreflectorized center bands indicating the "30" limit. Thus, the "30" is very hard to pick out without highbeams and knowing where to look. This is currently an MTA feeding frenzy! Don’t know how it will hold up in court… yet.
