US Highway 190 near Coming into the city
Kempner is a very small town between Killeen/Copperas Cove and Lampasas on HWY 190. BE CAREFUL! Despite the two-man police force, they are very agressive about the 45MPH slowdown through Kempner. Also, be aware of the road to the post office — the speed is about 25MPH through here and they ticket aggresively. Also be warned of a black SUV sitting on that corner for no reason — it is a civilian who likes to call the cops on violaters.

As you enter Kempner on Hwy 190 the speed limit drops to 45mph. There is one traffic light located on Hwy 190 in the center of Kempner. The Kempner police hide their vehicle near an abandoned gas station located about 100 yards East of the traffic light. The police cars are white Dodge Chargers. The Kempner police are frequently assisted in the execution of their speed trap by the Lampasas Country Sheriff's Department. They drive Ford F150 pickup trucks painted dark green and are difficult to recognize as a law enforcement vehicle. Military personnel driving to and from the Fort Hood area should be especially careful in the Kempner area. They are specifically targeted by the Kempner police.
