US Highway 22 near N. Providence Road
Mountainside is a tiny town that lies on top of about 1 mile’s worth of this US highway that is a major roadway with heavy commerical development along most of its length — except for Mountainside, where the limit drops to 45 mph while the relative thinning of commercial property creates the conditions for drivers to pick up higher speed (at least outside of rush hours). The township seems to treat its stretch of the roadway as a gold mine, and they have police stationed there around the clock doing nothing but pulling cars over one after another.
