I travel OFTEN from Galveston area to Lufkin via HWY 59 and after you get through Houston there are NUMEROUS DPS at no specific areas. But when you reach Sheppard…watch out. They are also doing construction of a new route of 59 to go over Sheppard so now there are workmen involved and we all know that will double the price of your ticket. They are out day and night as I have driven through Sheppard as early as 3:30-4:30am and witnessed DPS sitting there waiting.
