I worked in the area for many years. This is one of the most wretched speed trap towns you'll ever see. It is notorious in the area. The police force employs both Barney Fife and Gomer. They set up in all directions and as mentioned, the speed leaving the town often remains very low although the speed limit in the other direction on the same stretch of road is 10mph more. Moreover, state law allows them to push the fines to incredible limits. A coworker was once cited for doing 37 mph in a 35 mph zone! I saw the ticket. When in Calhoun Falls, do what I do and drive at 15 mph all the way through. They'll pull you for that too but so far I haven't gotten a ticket for going too slow.
