US HWY 281 & FM 88
At this intersection, the speed limit is 60 mph on US Hwy 281 (otherwise known as Military Highway), but the yellow caution light at the intersection is an immediate warning sign to slow down at least 10 mph, according to the officer who was parked ahead of the intersection and waiting for potential speeding ticket victims like me, although there is no posted reduced speed sign to 55 mph and then to 50 mph until about two miles past the intersection. As a frequent driver through this intersection, I see Progresso squad cars traveling slowly or parked there, especially at nights, together with a sherrif’s deputy unit or a Border Patrol, anticipating a good hefty fine of an average of 100 dollars per offense, plus court fees of 88 dollars. And watch out if police claims and cites you if your vehicle also has “defective equipment”, like a burned bulb or a worn tire tread. It’s like money in their eyes.
