West of Sumiton near the old closed-down dragstrip.
There is a road on the westbound side of AL. Hwy.118 (formerly U.S. 78 before the Corridor X opened to Adamsville) named Stella Lockhart Rd. This is the western end of Sumiton P.D.’s jurisdiction. However from time to time Sumiton units will park on the top of a hill in the Argo community which is almost 2 miles west of their jurisdiction and clock vehicles traveling east. They (Sumiton P.D.) will lock the vehicles speed and then follow it back east to their jurisdiction before initiating a stop. This is on of their many PATHETIC methods for generating revenue. If the vehicle slows to the speed limit when entering the jurisdiction how can the driver be in violation of the posted limit? The only thing Sumiton cares about is how much revenue they rake-in.
