There is one officer there who seems to specialize in stopping cars for the smallest of violations. Such as little tree car fresheners hanging from the rear view mirror and cracks in the windshield. Then he uses that as probably cause to get a K9 dog to sniff your car and if the dog barks, uses that to search your car. If this guy stops you, you had better plan on being there for a while and even if all you got is the small violation, he will still ticket you. (Does he watch cars coming with binoculars or does he check them out at a local gas station and then waits until they pull out onto the highway so he can get federal drug money for his department? IMO the safest way to avoid this guy is to fill up and eat in Lovelock or Battle Mountain and get thru Humboldt County at the speed limit.)
