Collierville, Tennessee Speed Traps
State Highway 72/57 near Shea Road
Heavy enforcement of speed limits 24 hours per day. Frequently "hiding" in one of baptist Hospital’s driveways.
Byhalia Road
The Collierville PD will sit in the Pepsi Company employee parking lot, nicely concealed behind the employees parked cars. It is hard to see the officer until right up on them. The parking lot is on the east side of Byhalia Road.
This mostly affects Northbound traffic coming to Poplar Avenue, but I have seen them facing North watching Southbound traffic. There is an officer there nearly 4 days of the week, usually during the daytime.
Typically Collierville PD allows 9 mph over the speed limit. I have this from a Lt with the dept. The 9mph offsets new tires and other factors, and puts the focus on those that really abuse the speed limits.
Winchester Road, after the sign for the town line
the cruiser sits in a department store parking lot. watch out. the speed limit was 50 mph but they moved the town line and now it is 40 mph. their recipe for success.
Old Houston Levee Road
Old Houston Levee Road is in a swamp area post at 30 mph The officer sets down off the road with his gun pointing north toward the 45 mph, Houston Levee Road. The driver traveling south may decided to take this short cut to turn east on Dogwood and by pass the four way stop. The south bound driver now takes OLD HOUSTON LEVEE ROAD, well before the driver even gets 25 feet off the road the speed sign states 30MPH. With the officer pointing his gun north and you are traveling south guest what speed he has clocked you at before being able to slow down.
