Franklin, Tennessee Speed Traps
Liberty Pike, all cross streets to Hwy 96 with a 30 mile posting….
any Franklin street with a speed limit of 40 or less. especially cool spgs blvd between caruthers pwy and Mack Hatcher (a few over 40 will get you especially toward the end of the month)along Hwy 96, don’t even think about a U-turn…entire City of Franklin is a speed trap especially at month’s end despite the PD saying it isn’t so! A recent inquiry from a former officer states it is a "speed campaign" city and quotas are recognized as it is a revenue source by the City. WSatch the so-called truck routes that have 35 mph limits: over 40 gets you a ticket, especially out on Downs Blvd. between 96 and Columbia Hwy (231)It’s the City of Franklin NOT Williamson County although there are efforts out on Hillsboro Road going toward Nashville thru Grasslands….45 mph but at 50 they will stop you if after 8PM most nites and weekends…
Royal Oaks Boulevard near Forrest Crossings
Franklin Police sit in the dark shadow behind the Telephone Box where there is a driveway. It is on the right past the Forrest Crossings light when you’re heading towards Mack Hatcher. Recently they have also sat in the back driveway to the Post Office on Royal Oaks as well.
Interstate 65 near Mile Marker 55
THP is enforcing the new "move over" law in a big way. There were four patrol cars there on 8/6, after midnight. They were issuing citations if motorists did not change lanes while the patrol cars were parked on the shoulder with lights rolling. Speed was not a factor, they were looking for seat belt and "move over" violators. This trap was plainly visible, just new to TN as this is a new law on the books.
Cool Springs Blvd. near Mack Hatcher Road
Every Morning sits a City of Franklin police car in a turn lane. This is a 4-lane divided Road with well-defined turn lanes. The road is posted at 40 mph.
On 09-26-03 a man was found guilty of impeding the duties of an officer solving a crime (?), because he flashed his lights warning others that a dangerous situation existed ahead. He plans to appeal.
The cops are lethal in Franklin. They have a grudge against the people in the wealthiest area in the state, so delight in stopping the higher priced cars. I overheard one officer say, "They can well afford a ticket."
Boyd Mill Road
After crossing Downs blvd, there are two locations when speed traps are set up…usually towards the end of the month: 1) in someone’s DRIVEWAY on the right hand side and 2) around the corner just before Franklin Green subdivision. As with most speed traps in Franklin, they target roads where the speed limit is 30MPH, as it is here.
