Johnson City, Tennessee Speed Traps
Interstate 26 near Before Okolona Exit
Heading towards Erwin just after the University exit there are two locations that are heavily patroled before Okolana exit. First is at an overpass that Troopers will sit under in the median. The second is right after that where you will cross a short bridge where they also sit in the median
Interstate 26
Interstate 26 speed limit goes from 70 mph to 55 mph back to 60 mph on the section approaching Johnson City from the north and continues through Erwin to the North Carolina state line. A great number of tickets are written on this divided four lane highway.
Knob Creek Road near North Hills Drive
Old man on a motorcycle writes everbody he can get, downhill straight road with no curves.
Interstate 26 near Mile Marker 36
From MM 34-38, almost always rolling radar. Seldom state trooper, usually city, some unmarked white mustangs.
Interstate 26 west near between exits 28 and 31, which are Okalona and University Parkway.
As you travel on I-26 W, (aka 181) just as you enter Washington County between exits 28 and 31, there is a white mustang that is apparently there 24 hours a day, and if you speed, HE WILL, I repeat, HE WILL GET YOU…everytime. I know, he’s got me 3 times and just about every friend of mine at least once. It’s not that we’re dumb or driving unsafely. This is the sneakiest speed trap I have ever seen. The speed limit changes stealthily from 65 to 55 eventhough the highway still remains straight, rural, and without traffic. It looks as if you’re still in the country, but you have just entered the city limits. So if you are going 70 in the 65, and just happen to not see the 55 sign as soon as you pass exit 28,you might as well just count on contribuiting to Johnson City’s budget.
