Knoxville, Tennessee Speed Traps
Interstate 40 & 75 near Exit Number 379A
Slow down between Gallaher View Road and Papermill Drive. It has heavy interstate construction, and the posted speed limit is 45mph. Go over that, and they’ll pull you over. Motorists have been pulled over at ALL HOURS OF THE DAY AND NIGHT!
Metler Rd. (between Clinton Hwy. and Central Ave.)
Neighborhood complaints led to 30MPH zone enforcement. Visibility of police vehicle is limited and there is an unmarked supervisor watching activities of officers.
Volunteer Blvd. UT campus next to Gibbs Hall
Police sit and radar as you come up over a hill and around a corner. They sit at the stoplight and radar out the window of a Chevrolet Tahoe. Seen multiple people reiceive tickets.
I-40, Exit 380
Speed limit drops to 45 at this exit, although most traffic continues to go 65-70. Allegedly a "construction zone", though no workers are usually present. The highway patrol office is located at this exit, so police are constantly entering here. Also uses undercover officers dressed as roadworkers(with orange vests and helmets) holding radar guns.
I-40 Mile Marker 391
Going East-bound 100 yards of less from the 391 mile-marker, the Knoxville City Police sit, backed up between the guard rail openings and await anyone going over 63 MPH. They are sitting right in front of the big RUTLEDGE PIKE NEXT EXIT 392 1 MILE sign. Be very careful here. It is best to travel at 60 MPH than get a ticket. I have known numerous people that have gotten tickets here. I see one or two City-Kitty cars parked here almost every day or I see them having someone pulled over.
