the curve on White Station close to Mason, a car will hide along the side streets, a past favorite haunt for the notorious officer Selby who had to undergo anger management classes. Still a very active radar enforcement in the North section of White Station.
Sam Cooper Boulevard near Highland Street
As you are going down I-40, it turns into Sam Cooper. The speed limits slows to a 40mph zone. It sneaks up on you! The cops absolutely love to catch people speeding off the interstate. They usually sit at the bottom of the hill after you cross over Highland. Never, ever speed on Sam Cooper. If there is a cop sitting there, you almost never have time to slow down. They will catch you.
Union Avenue near Tillman Street
Hides in entrance to business. Can’t see them around corner. Getting traffic heading west on Union just before Tillman.
US Highway 51 near Watkins Street
On Highway 51 north bound just south of Watkins ST, they setup in the entrance to a Mobile Home park. The area has trees blocking the view of the Memphis Police radar car. This location is at the bottom of a hill and just before the speed limit starts increasing as you leave the city limits. This location is also approximately 1 mile from the Memphis Police Academy, maybe its training excercises.
Southern Avenue near Alexander Street
The officers typically park 50 feet up on Alexander Street, facing Southern Avenue. They are usually very strict about pursuit, turning on the sirens at even 2-3 MPH over the stated speed limit of 35MPH.
