Bells, Texas Speed Traps
Entire City of Bells, TX
This is a town that has NO industry, I would be very careful here as they make their city budget from traffic fines. Watch for black and white cars with low profile light bars and chevy Tahoe type vehicles. They have extended their city limits far out each side of town into the country where no one lives in an attempt to collect more traffic fines. As a peace officer myself of 11 years I find this town and it’s practice of traffic enforcement very sad. Ticket issued for 5 miles over speed limit, maybe they can take the money and improve the roads?
State Highway 69 near McFarland Street
35 mph speed limit sign posted on a curve, partially obscured by trees, shrubbery. I was ticketed 42 in a 35. I had just left 45 mph zone and did not see 35 mph sign. Officer was around the curve just past a railroad overpass, facing traffic entering town. This was in March of 2006.
highway 82 and highway 69
Local police setup radar on highway 69, north and south coming into town. (69 is watched more than 82) They also watch highway 82 on the east side of town. The speed limit drops from 65 to 35 mph before you know it.
