Dawson, Texas Speed Traps

Just after leaving Hubbard, TX (another speed trap town), the speed limit is 70 mph on a 4 lane divided hwy. It seems, in the blink of an eye, you’re in Dawson where it drops to 50. In a flash it’s back up to 70; just long enough for the one-horse-town police to ticket you. I got my ticket on a Sunday afternoon on a main TX state hwy. Dawson has less than 1000 people; why is a city police officer even out patrolling on Sun. if not to provide revenue to a town that has no other way to earn it. By the way, while heading to Waco 3 hours earlier, I saw the same cop had someone pulled over at same location.
