Denison, Texas Speed Traps
Spur 503/Eisenhower Parkway
Eisenhower Parkway anywhere between Spur 503 and downtown Denison, especially between 503 and Team Bonner Chevrolet (Fannin Street). Officers hide behind the trees on the ramp coming off Texoma Parkway. No mercy. I received a ticket for failure to signal when changing lanes with no other traffic on the highway (cost $175). City Attorney has no mercy, either. Couldn’t care less about appeal. City needs revenue and all officers are demanded to “produce.” Officers have been told to “be aware of Oklahoma drivers!” Since it’s against Texas law for police departments to put quotas on officers, Denison does not; however, officers are required to “make 4 contacts” per hour!!!

The DPS usually has 2 to 3 units sitting in a parking lot writing tickets and one officer standing at the edge of the road with a hand held radar gun motioning the offenders to the lot(only during nice weather). The location is just past where the speed limit drops from 55mph to 40mph as you are coming down a hill. It is just past Grayson County Junior College on FM691 heading west shortly before you get to the intersection of FM1417.

dps officers sit at this location behind signs and and at the crest of the hill and pull people over right as they pass the speed limit sign. Usually there are 3-4 dps vehicles there at a time. sometimes there are officers in the street in the intersection as well.
