Dickinson, Texas Speed Traps
Interstate 45 near U-Turn off I-45 and Hwy 517
The trap is located at the U-Turn section of I-45 South and Hwy 517. As you exit from I-45 and make the circle back onto I-45 North (access road), the trap is set up underneath the overpass. One cannot see the policemen upon exiting I-45, and several motorists have had to slam on their brakes to avoid collisions as the policemen have traffic stopped underneath the overpass.
FM 517 near State Highway 3
There is a school zone just West of Highway 3. The school zone is well-marked, but there is a traffic light in the middle of it. People that get stopped by the traffic light tend to forget that this is a school zone and accelerate to more than 20mph after the light turns green. The motorcycle cop that patrols this every morning has Zero tolerance. He has written tickets for 22 in a 20.
State Highway 3 near City Limit Sign
The trap was set up near the south city limit sign on highway 3, a four-lane highway through the middle of this small town. On one side of the sign the speed limit is 40; on the other side it immediately goes up to 50. The city is obviously making some big bucks working the highway near the sign.
Gulf Freeway
Both Galveston County Sheriff and State Patrol. State Patrol is radar and detectable. Sheriff department is in Ford Explorer and cruiser, neither one is detectable, not even by laser detector.
