Flatonia, Texas Speed Traps

on FM 609 south bound normal speed is 70 mph. before you get close to the city it drops to 55mph. and then just entering the city it drops to 40 mph.
and 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile from the 40 mph city police sits with the radar, mostly in the night.

Flatonia PD (occasionally a DPS too) patrol this area at night by either sitting in the center median strip or on the shoulder (generally the westbound side) and radar traffic. You’ll get a way with 5 over, maybe even more…but if you go 10 over, you’re definitely going to get it! They sometimes slip outside their jurisdiction (town) a bit. I don’t know if local PD have local jurisdiction only or county wide.

There is a radar happy officer, that will pull over anyone that is going 1 mile over the speed limit. Even if it was the car behind you.
