Fort Worth, Texas Speed Traps
State Highway 287 near 820 Loop
Texas State Trooper Patrol Car on the right hand side of the road as you head north on State Highway 287 just past the Loop 820 merge . He is there early in the morning at least by 5 am .
Berry Street near 6th Avenue
At about the 1300 block of W. Berry, the road dips under a railroad bridge. On this rather steep grade you can gain 10 mph by just holding in the clutch. As the street rises after the bridge, between 3 and 8 motorcycle cops are waiting at the first intersection(6th ave). The posted limit is 35mph on a 5-lane road. They’ll get you good.
Interstate 35 W near Western Center Street
This speed trap is actually on the East side of 35W on the service road as you’re heading north to Western Center, Fossil creek theater, etc. It is common and safe to cruise 50mph or more along this stretch, at which I believe the limit is 35mph.
The traps are usually set up by motorcyle cops. They are usually positioned just after Fossil Creek Blvd and I’ve usually noticed them during the afternoon rush hour.
Camp Bowie Boulevard near Interstate 30
A motorcycle cop will sit right after the underpass where Camp Bowie goes under I-30. When heading East/Southeast bound on Camp Bowie, there is a downwards hill on the road right under 30 and you are generally forced to hit your brakes to remain within the posted speed limit. The cop will attempt to hide behind the trees in the apartment complex across the street from Uncle Julio’s. I’ve seen this cop literally jump in the middle of the road and flag down cars on foot. Watch out!
Interstate I-20 near Hemphill Road
As you exit I-20 East bound at Hemphill there could be a motorcycle officer parked in an alley behind the last house before the car dealership. He is normally standing behind some bushes/trees and will walk out into the street to flag you down. Speed limit is 35 MPH.
Also, from Hemphill St going westbound on I-20 access road, motorcyle or car sitson a side street just after the car dealership. Speed limit also 35 MPH.
