Fulshear, Texas Speed Traps
FM359 entering city from the north
country road entering from the north with 60mph speed limit. Still rural looking just after crossing city limit sign but speed drops to 50 for ½ mile, then 35mph once you enter business area. Easy to miss the transition reduction in speed, especially if not from the area.
FM 1093 both east and west between FM 359 and FM 1463
The speed limit from FM 359 to Bois d’arc is 35 mph, zero tolerance. East of that intersection increases to 45 pph, zero tolerance. At Cross Creek intersection the speed limit becomes 50, then 55, again, zero tolerance. It is common to see 3 patrol officers writing speeding tickets in this 2 mile stretch. Very reminiscent of Fulshear police in the 1990’s when they were cited and ultimately disbanded for being a speed trap town.
FM 1093 from Fulshear east to Grand Parkway
In the last two weeks, I have noted an unmarked maroon Crown Vic having vehicles pulled over on FM 1093. The officer is Department of Public Safety (DPS). The vehicle has regular, civilian license plates, not the ‘Exempt’ plates you would expect. Remember, if you are ever suspicious of an officer in an unmarked vehicle, you can request a marked patrol unit to your location to confirm their identity.
Intersection of FM-1093 and FM-359
35 mph speed limit at Fulshear town square heading east toward Katy & Houston, TX.

This city disbanded their police department some years back for various infractions which included running a speed trap on their main roadways. Now word has it that the city is bringing back their police department. They will start out with 2 or 3 officer’s and then gradually increase their size in the coming months. One way to justify their increase in manpower is to write more tickets. So, if you plan to drive or peddle through this small town, may I suggest you drive the posted speed limit. Since there is a small tax base, expect the ticket writing campaign to begin in earnest.
