Itasca, Texas Speed Traps

Itasca police patrol this area of the 35 even though their tiny little town doesn’t touch the freeway. Was going 80 in a 75 and was pulled over by a police officer who said his radar had me going 84.

Apparently if there are workers present on either side of the highway –even miles away, they will not only ticket you for speeding at 5 over but they will also mark that you were in a construction zone with workers present! So if there’s construction anywhere in those 14 miles don’t speed or the city will get $300 of YOUR dollars! And don’t pass a truck in the left lane, the officer will tell you that you weren’t passing and give you a citation for being in the left passing lane since you obviously were not passing that huge semi to your right. Are you kidding me?!

I drove through that city and they obviously need our dollars. So beware or drive through a better city.

I was driving 65 in a 75 zone at 5 a.m. and I was given a ticket for 81 MPH. He didn’t pull over the people passing me up but pulled me over. This is ridiculous and I feel violated. This is definitely a speed trap. He was sitting on the right side of the road with no lights on. It doesn’t matter if you are obeying the law because the cop will lie and say you were speeding. Disgusting. The people of Itasca should be ashamed of yourself.

Well the city is still at it, this time they are nailing drivers who don’t change lanes or reduce speed for an emergency vehicle on the side of the road. City patrol car sitting on the side of the road with only his rear amber lights on. When I couldn’t change lanes due to the three semi’s next to me I was pulled over because I didn’t slow down enough when going by the officers car. $214 plus and extra $50 to make is all just go away. I’m a CHL holder which normally indicates to most law enforcement that I’m one of the good guys but not in Itasca…. Nice trap, enjoy my money
