Jacksonville, Texas Speed Traps
Hwy 79 East in New Summerfield Tx.
Local Police set up on both ends of town and will give you a ticket every time, No warnings even if you are 2 mph over 55 mph limit, They need to patrol their city instead of setting up on side of road, The speeders should be stopped and ticketed by State Troopers and not the local police, But the fat police in that town are to lazy to drive around checking on the people they are sworn to protect and serve !
New Summerfield approx: 16 miles East of Jacksonville
Watch out when going thru New Summerfield, The 2 Local Police cars they have in that small town are usually located on each end of New Summer Field and will not write you a warning, they will only write serious tickets, When one car stops a vehicle for speeding the other car turns around and hammers down to where his partner stopped the speeder, both cars now have you stopped and are just showing off, The speed limit is 70 mph then suddenly drops to 45 mph and that’s where they get you, You will pay the ticket if you can locate the JP, They are very tough on trucks and will give truckers some major fines unless you live in that town and drive a illegal log truck, they will just wave and let the local truck go, I firmly believe the City Police should patrol the City and let the State Troopers do the Highway work, Be careful and stay safe!!!
US Highway 69
About halfway between Rusk and Jacksonville is a place called Seven Mile Hill. It is just after the Cherokee County Airport if you are headed northbound, and the speed limit drops from 70 to 60 as you negotiate the hill/curve. There’s a State Trooper constantly patrolling this area; he likes to hang out at both the top and bottom of the hill just beyond the speed limit change signs, and also in the hidden driveways off to the right on the southbound side. Don’t try anything more than 65 through here.
