Katy, Texas Speed Traps
Westgreen between Kingsland and Highland Knolls
Constables sit in the medians, a permanent fixture on weekends. 30 mph speed limit they fill their monthly quotas in a single weekend.
US 90 / Highway Blvd.
Speed limit on Highway 90 entering Katy from Brookshire goes from 55 to 45, then down to 35 before Carolina Street (still relatively rural) to just past FM 1463 (.07 miles total), then goes back up to 40 through the "Business District" area before intersecting the Interstate… a very smart trap against people who are used to the "reduction as you get closer to the center of town, higher speed limit as you leave town".
Kingsland Boulevard
Officer sits here regularly to catch you at this ridiculous speedtrap. The speed limit on Kingsland is 40 mph eastbound from the Grand Parkway to a little street called Pickford Drive. There are 2 consecutive 40 MPH signs on this route to lull you off your guard. Without warning, a small speed limit sign changes this 4-lane boulevard to a 30 MPH speed trap. At 6AM when I travel this route, I have seen him 5 times this month. There are no visible (or invisibile, for that matter) landmarks which seem to coincide with this ridiculously low speed. It is clearly designed to be a speed trap. Immediately after passing Mason Road, 6 tenths of a mile later, the 40 MPH speed limit resumes. I was going 41 and he had the nerve to tell me to slow it down”. Did I mention Ridiculous? :^)”””
Interstate 10
I-10 East and West bound between Addicks/Park Ten, TX and West to Grand Parkway. Enforced by Houston Police, outside of their city limits….
Katy Mills Circle
Katy PD hides in Katy Mills parking lot and traps speeders all day long everyday they even ride bikes with radars and give tickets in mall parking lot. This is a horrible shopping experience.
